Multifaceted Rain: A Poem by Vandana NK in Rain Song Part 1

The soft touch of an evening rain
Gently wakes me up from the strain
I have long been waiting in a lull
For you to water my withering soul

Seeing you in full glory is my peace
And you bring me ultimate solace
Although it is kind of chill
You now have me under your spell

Though lost in your presence
I keep thinking of your multifaceted acts
Over the years you did transform
And that is something I fail to fathom

The gently falling silver pearls
That offer a feast to my eyes
Can anytime turn torrential
And wreak havoc in multitudes

The soft music you produce
Which is my lullaby sometimes
And which turned many into poets
Can now spoil many lives

Sweet memories of childhood you evoke
Of watching the drops roll down my window
Of walking and singing in the rain
And it removed all my pain

Then the phase of quite tranquil in youth
When you reminded of a loved one
And I sang along your tune
And we laughed at the hiding moon

Those are the rains I crave for
Pray you remain like that forever
Putting us to a peaceful slumber
And not to eternal sleep with a thunderstroke

I kicked off my boots, my wet socks clinging to my frozen feet. The fireplace was dark and cold. Frantically, I searched for matches to ignite a fire but found none. Even in the cold windy nights, when you feel all alone When nothing seems to be right and you just wanna hold tight. A voice comes asking for you; A voice you wanna hear When you're all in fear and she calls you; dear, Indeed heaven falls there! कहते हैं  विभिन्नता में एकता तो भारत का आधार है, पर क्यों फिर भी भेदभाव का प्रचार है ? धर्म,जाति,रूतबे के आधार है ये भेद , पर बताइए ज़रा कौन कहता है ये सब वेद ? सबको मिले समान अधिकार व समाज में हो समत्व, क्योंकि तभी होंगे सब प्रसन्न व नहीं खोएगा किसी का अस्तित्व।  समाज की भेदभाव जैसी बुराई को हटाना है, देश को सुखी, विकसित व समृद्ध बनाना है । यदि न होगा समाज में किसी प्रकार का भेदभाव, निश्चय ही उन्नत होगा भारत ,लोगों में होगा परस्पर सद्भाव । तो आओ लें ये प्रण- समाज में स्थापित करें संपूर्ण समत्व,  मुक्त बनाएँ भारत को भेदभाव से ताकि न खो पाए किसी का अस्तित्व । About the Author  Ruchika Chauhan belongs to Shimla.
