Independence: An Acrostic Poem by Kirti V

India, my mother,
Never would I let you down.
Drenched in your warmth,
Empowered I feel and
Pride I take in calling myself your child.
Embracing your diversities has
Nurtured me into a fine individual,
Drowning you are in the waters of hatred,
Enveloped by crime and casteism,
Now, I vouch to free you from these shackles and
Create a better tomorrow and make you
Emerge with all prosperity.
