Rain Threatens Day 5 as Bangladesh Close in on Historic Series Win Against Pakistan

In the ongoing second Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh in Rawalpindi, Bangladesh needs 143 runs to secure a 2-0 series win on Day 5. On Day 4, Bangladesh reached 42/0, with Zakir Hasan (31*) and Shadman Islam (9*) unbeaten before rain interrupted play, providing a potential lifeline for Pakistan. Weather forecasts predict a 100% chance of rain on Day 5, with an 83% chance of showers from the start of play, which could significantly delay the match. However, conditions are expected to improve after 3:00 PM local time, offering some hope for Bangladesh fans.

Earlier in the match, Pakistan posted a first-innings total of 274, with Saim Ayub (58), Shan Masood (57), and Salman Ali Agha (54) scoring half-centuries. Bangladesh responded with 262 runs, bolstered by a brilliant century from Liton Das, who scored 138, and a solid 78 from Mehidy Hasan Miran. Khurram Shahzad was the standout bowler for Pakistan, taking six wickets.

In their second innings, Pakistan struggled, collapsing to 172 runs. Salman Ali Agha was the top scorer, remaining unbeaten on 47*, while Hasan Mahmud and Nahid Rana were the chief destroyers for Bangladesh, taking five and four wickets, respectively. A draw would result in Bangladesh clinching their first-ever Test series win against Pakistan, having already achieved their maiden Test match victory over them in the opener.

With rain potentially playing a pivotal role on Day 5, Pakistan hopes for more interruptions to avoid a series defeat, while Bangladesh eyes a historic series-clinching win.
